Where EMS fits into a boxing programme

EMS is not a shortcut and it is not a gimmick. Used correctly it buys you strength work without beating up your joints.

I get asked about EMS constantly, usually by people who saw it marketed as twenty minutes replacing a week of training. It does not do that. What it does do is recruit deep muscle fibres without loading the spine and knees.

How I use it

  • /As a strength block for clients with joint limitations
  • /As extra volume in a fight camp week that is already heavy
  • /For core stability that carries directly into rotation and punch transfer
  • /For controlled recovery sessions between hard technical days

The boxing does not change. EMS sits underneath it as support, the same way rope work or stretching does. When a client's schedule is tight, it is the most time-efficient strength tool I have.
